Webroot, which became known through its client-side spyware detection market, has announced it would sell an email security service for consumers and small to medium businesses.
Webroot acquired UK-based Email Systems to add email archiving, encryption and other features to its suite for protecting email, http Web filtering and other Web-based communications.
The service requires no edge network hardware. Webroot claims to protect against 98 percent of e-mail spam and 100 percent of known viruses.
