Sophisticated trojans can mimic online money transfer, pilfer funds

Due Credit: TechRepublic
This was coming. The only question was when rather that how. Trojans are now able to even mimic online transactions by noticing the activity of users during banking transactions. While the programs have not got to the level where they are able to start transactions by themselves, they lay in the background as daemon process and once the user goes online, the funds are transferred to other compromised accounts.

Not only that but the amount from the compromised accounts also keeps shifting to avoid detection. The transactions are performed so smoothly that at the banker's end its difficult to make out a human initiated transfer from a program initiated one.

Now, all this starts to happen only if you have the Trojan on your PC. And for that to happen you have to go and click on that sleazy little file you got in your mail or the link that promised to give you more of you know what. Caution is the word here. Every e-mail deserves to be eyed suspiciously. No matter how happy you are with your anti-spam filter, they are programs and they make mistakes. These anti-spam filters are available to the malware creators too so the links that come your way are sort of tried and tested.

Wish you a safe computing and yes, needless to say, banking transactions are some of the utmost critical data. So refrain from performing them on all machines except the one that is completely under your supervision and is thoroughly scanned.
