Power Point Presentation
Due Credit:
Microsoft PowerPoint is used to create presentations for business and public applications. The file extension ppt is used for presentations created with PowerPoint 2003 or earlier versions. Later versions of Power Point use the .pptx file format which cannot be opened using earlier versions. The files saved with the .pps file extension mark a fully complete presentation that open as a ready to use presentation.
Like the Microsoft Office application suite, the OpenOffice suite also provides applications that support file extension ppt and pps. This is essentially a freeware that anyone can obtain for free. It involves certain difficulties when you use this application to edit .ppt files. For example, some information like graphics and some amount of formatting may get altered. You have to be careful when accessing .ppt or .pps file from unknown sources as the .ppt files are more prone to threat due to hackers. These file types use ActiveX Controls and Flash media that are highly vulnerable as a hacker can embed harmful code in such .ppt files that can be executed using ActiveX Controls. Though most antivirus software can detect this type of malicious code, some cannot. Following the basics of a safe and secure PC is essential in order to ensure better security.
